Vision Valley is a tech-free campus, and the digital detox is one of the most beneficial aspects of the program. Students will have no regular access to email or internet facilities and mobile phones, laptops or smart watches/devices are not allowed. For scheduled music lessons or counselling sessions, students can be provided with a loan laptop to facilitate a Teams or Zoom meeting.
If a student or parent/carer needs to make contact, this can be arranged via staff at any time. Of course, should the Vision Valley team have concerns about a student, parents/carers will be contacted. General communication home while on program is encouraged through writing letters and cards – a lost art. In return, we hope that all students on program will receive letters in the post. In addition to letters, students will maintain a communal blog through which families will receive regular updates and photos of program activities.
We understand though that sometimes a call home is required for a particular reason, this will be supported by staff and arranged at a time that suits the program and both parties. Families can contact staff via email and phone with any queries or concerns if they arise. While parents may find this period difficult; based on our earlier programs, students have commented they’ve enjoyed the break from their mobile phone and being constantly connected through social media.
Please restrict incoming mail to letters or postcards. We do not allow care packages of food items to be delivered to Vision Valley, the Upper School or sent via the post. If delivered these items will be stored and distributed to students on their departure from the program. Should any student have overlooked required items, contact will be made to arrange a drop to Upper School.
