Applying to Present at Conferences

Pymble actively supports staff who have engaged in action research, academic research or program development and wish to present their achievments at a conference. 

If you are thinking of engaging in conference presentation, please follow the process outlined below before applying.

This procedure outlines:

·   The process for applying to present at conferences for all Pymble Teachers

·   The roles and responsibilities for presenters and those involved in supporting the application to present.

Pre- application process

Before applying to present at a conference the teacher must:

·   Audit the conference for suitability, relevance, target audience, cost and travel distance.

·   Check the calendar for potential conflicting events

·   Seek in principle approval for attendance from their line manager

·   Ascertain if budget is available from the Director of Professional Learning and seek in principle approval.

Application Process

Once in principle approval has been given:

·   Discuss the proposed presentation with the Director of the Pymble Institute or the Director of Professional Learning

·   The Director of the Pymble Institute or the Director of Professional Learning will provide feedback and guidance as needed

·   Complete the conference process for applying to present.

Post – Acceptance to present

Once the presentation proposal has been accepted:

·   Apply for the conference in HERO using the normal procedure and advising if there is a discount for presenters.

·   Use a Pymble slide template and the Pymble style guide to create your presentation.

·   Ensure permission has been given to show any co-authored materials or images of people in your representation.

·   De-identify students

·   Provide the Director of the Pymble Institute and the Director of Professional Learning with a final version of your presentation prior to the conference

·   The Director of the Pymble Institute or the Director of Professional Learning will edit using the Pymble Style Guide

Post – Presentation

Share your presentation and/ or learnings from the conference with other members of the College or as directed by the Director of the Pymble Institute or the Director of Professional Learning.

Post-conference opportunities that will be discussed include presenting your work at a Pymble staff day or other professional learning session and writing for the College research journal, Illuminate
