Maintenance of accreditation occurs every 5 years if you are working full time and every 7 years if you are working part time.
Teachers who are not working with NESA Curriculum, should either place themselves on leave of absence or take up the new Non-Practicing Teacher Accreditation as it becomes available.
The process for maintaining accreditation is a direct transaction between the teacher and NESA.
Shortly before your accreditation due date, NESA will contact each teacher directly to remind you that your maintenance is due with details of how to maintain your accreditation.
It is the responsibility of each teacher to:
Ensure their contact details are correct in etams
Keep up to date with emails from NESA regarding their accreditation
Ensure that PD requirements are being met in an ongoing manner across the five year maintenance period (7 Year part time)
Maintain a log of Professional Learning
Submit your maintenance, within 3 months of your accreditation due date, according to the guidelines which NESA will provide.
Keep the PL Log in case of NESA Audit, for 12 months post re-accreditation
Pay the annual accreditation fee
Maintain a current Working with Children Check
Update your accreditation details in HERO (click here for instructions)
The College will:
Provide access to professional learning opportunities that support the strategic goals of the college and develop teacher practice
Provide a log for each teacher where they can record and download their Professional Learning (in Term 1, Week 4 & 5 of 2025 this log is being updated - you can still enter PL and request a record however your latest PL update might not be included in your record until the update has been completed) or
you may choose to use this log created by NESA - https://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/wcm/connect/bdcd9ebc-8231-4552-89ea-708410843b9d/elective-pd-log-template.pdf?MOD=AJPERES&CVID=
Ensure teachers have maintained their Working With Children Check
Meet its obligations to inform NESA if a teacher is no longer maintaining Proficient Teacher Standards or if they have breached the suitability to teach guidelines as outlined in the NESA Teacher Accreditation Manual.
To support teachers in maintaining their accreditation the Director of Professional Learning will:
Email teachers that they are within 3 months of needing to maintain their accreditation.
Send a reminder email approximately one month prior to an accreditation due date, if the accreditation has not yet been submitted to NESA.
To maintain your accreditation you must complete 100 hours of professional learning across the maintenance period.
