At Pymble, we are committed to helping Early Career Teachers (ECTs) thrive by investing in their professional growth and development. We recognise the incredible potential that these individuals bring to our school community and aim to provide a well-defined induction program that will allow them to flourish.
ECTs are organised into four bespoke pathways, depending on their level of experience and developmental needs. Through these pathways, we ensure that each teacher receives the guidance and resources that they need to grow, make a meaningful impact in the classroom, and build a strong foundation for a successful career in education.
For more information about the support mechanisms that are provided within each pathway, please see this booklet.
It is a mandatory requirement that teachers are accredited at Proficient Teacher level with NESA within the prescribed timeframes.
Provisional Teachers have up to 3 years to complete requirements and 5 years if casual or part-time.
Conditional teachers have 4 years within which to complete requirements and 6 years if casual or part-time.
At Pymble, teachers who have taught a full academic year following their graduation (just over 160 days) are encouraged to start working towards their Proficient teacher accreditation.
More details can be found about this in the above booklet. You are also most welcome to contact Kerryl Howarth (Director of Professional Learning) and/or Alex Campbell (Early Career Coordinator).
