Welcome to United States History. This website is intended to serve as a supplement to the content of the course. Here you will find unit previews, classroom materials, and in some instances, classroom lecture notes. This course will cover material from 1870 (the Gilded Age) through the modern era (2016). Although people in history are very important, the focus of this class is on social change and how individuals fit into that social alteration. America has changed dramatically in the past 145 years. In this course we will attempt to answer "How did that change come about" and "Who are the individuals who were part of that change or perhaps caused that change?" Finally, students will be asked "how can our knowledge of past events shape our view of society today?"
