Standards Based Report Card: KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE

The District provides reports for students in grades K and 1 each trimester that are standards-based, through our online parent portal, PowerSchool.

The standards-based report card shows levels of student achievement based upon grade level expectations. These grade level expectations are the content and skills that are delineated in the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards.

Unlike the traditional letter/number grade systems that give one summary grade for each subject or special area, the standards-based report card shows individual mastery scores for the particular content and skills that make up the subject area. This allows parents and guardians the opportunity to know more specifically that student is learning to meet the state grade level expectations (standards) for each subject and special area. In addition, this type of report card allows parents and guardians to know quickly and easily which content and skills their child needs more practice to improve.

The standards-based report card provides a more accurate and consistent grading practice across the entire grade level because all students are evaluated on the same grade level expectations (standards) using the same benchmark evaluations.
