Beekeeper's Corner: Message from Miss Jordan

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The opening to school was a huge success! Special thanks to staff who worked so hard to get the start of school up and running without a hitch.

Please join us for our School Improvement Team meeting on October 19th at 6:00 at the Valley Park Library. We will review school improvement plans. All are welcome.

Have a great month!

Miss Bobbie-Ann Jordan, Principal

School Improvement Team Meeting

Valley Park’s School Improvement Meeting will be held on October 19th at 6:00 pm in the Valley Park Library. At this meeting, we will discuss the school’s improvement goals for this year. Everyone is invited to attend.

Make Up Work

Make-up work for students who are on vacation will be given upon the student’s return to school. Make-up work for student illness may be picked-up in the office upon request at the end of the school day. Make-up work for an extended illness will be provided at a time decided upon by the teacher and parent/guardian. When requesting make-up work for student illness, please call the school as early as possible, preferably before 9:10 a.m. as teachers may not be able to fulfill late requests. The request for make-up work may be left as a message on the answering machine when notifying the school that your student will be absent. The number for reporting a student absent is 540-6200, x7839.

Administration of Medication In School

Administration of medication in schools can only be done under the following conditions: there must be a written request from the parent, written orders are to be provided from the private physician, and medication should be brought to school in the original container appropriately labeled by pharmacy or physician. The only person permitted to administer medication in school is the certified nurse or parent/guardian. Please do not send medication to school unless these conditions are met. Thank you

Cafeteria

Students may pre-pay lunches that will be purchased in the cafeteria a week or more at a time. This helps expedite the lunch line. Cafeteria staff will let each student know when he/she is close to using all of their pre-paid lunches. Students should pre-pay in the cafeteria in the morning.

Breakfast Program

The breakfast program runs in the morning from 8:25-8:55 and is monitored by a staff member on duty. Please note that students do not need to sign up in advance to participate; however, students may not bring their own breakfast must buy breakfast from Metz to participate. Parents/Guardians/Visitors are not permitted in the cafeteria at this time. Also, please note that students are only permitted to arrive between 8:25-8:35 so that they have time to purchase and eat their breakfasts. When dropping off students at the front cafeteria door, please ensure that students ring the buzzer and are escorted into the building by school personnel before pulling away from the drop-off area.

Socks + October = Socktober

During the month of October, Valley Park students are being asked to send in donations of new socks to help homeless families in our area. After the donations have been collected they will be taken to the Salem County Women’s Services in Salem.

We collected over 500 pairs of socks last year! Help us to beat last year’s total!!
