Merrick Bradbury, 75, Mead Paper retiree

LEE-Merrick "Brad" Bradbury, 75 of 769 East St. died Saturday at the Manate Hospital in Brandon, Fla. where he and his wife, Mary, were spending the winter.

Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 25, 1926, so of Henry and Estella Smith Bradbury, he moved to Dalton as a child and was a 1944 graduate of Dalton High School.

He joined the Army on April 23, 1945 and served with the army of occupation in Japan until being discharged with the rank of technician fifth grade on Dec. 9, 1946. After his military service, he attended Berkshire Business College.

Mr. Bradbury was employed by Berkshire Gravel in Pittsfield for a short time and, in 1953, went to work at the Mead Paper Co. in South Lee, retiring in 1991 as production development engineer at its Willow Mill.

He was a member of the American Legion in Dalton, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lee and the Lee Kiwanis Club.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary S Stiles, whom he married June 14, 1947.; two sons, Paul R. Bradbury of West Stockbridge and Thomas E. Bradbury of Lee; a daughter, Marianna B. Gamelli of Otis,; a brother, Allan Bradbury of Williamstown, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, William H. Bradbury, who died July 10, 1998
