NBA ROSTER COMPOSITION: COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
With the implementation of the One-and-Done rule in 2006, players must be 19 years old as well as at least one year out of high school to be eligible for the NBA draft. As a result, the NBA draft and their teams’ rosters have increasing been populated by players with minimal college basketball experience. Individually, players with less college experience have shown to have more successful careers in the NBA in major statistical categories as well as better base salary and career longevity. However, little research has been conducted on team success. This study examines if college experience translates to better team performance such as wins, points per game, assists per game, rebounds per game, and turnovers per game.
