This week we have our school FiaFia night on Wednesday 5th April. We will be having lots of practices this week during the day. For our learning this week we will be looking at our previous Fiafia performances in preparation.

Week 8 - Māui and the Sun

WALT:  retell the myth and legend of Māui in our own words using descriptive langauge.

This week we are going to learn how to retell a story in our own words. We will also be using this story for our art project this week. You will need to retell the story in your own words and use as much descriptive language as you can.

Week 7 - Year 5 & 6 Camp Recount

WALT:  structure a recount using detailed and descriptive language.

Instructions

Last week we wrote thank you letters to our camp helpers. This week we are going to create a recount about our experiences of year 5 and 6 camp. If you were someone who didn't go to camp you can create a recount about what you did during those three days. This week I am wanting you to use as much descriptive langauge as you can to help capture your audience as they are reading your recount.

Week 6 - Thank you Letter

WALT: write a formal thankyou letter. 

Instructions

This week we are going to create thank you letters for our helpers at year 5 & 6 camp. Think about one adult that you are really thankful for making camp possible this could be your camp teacher, Mr Somerville, Mr Burt, Mr Jacobson, Mrs Nua or any of our parents who can to help with security, cooking and taking us to the pools.

Week 5: Year 5/6 Camp

This week, from Wednesday to Friday, we are on Year 5/6 Camp. We are so excited to go as we didn't get to have this camp last year due to Covid19 - the first camp we missed in over 30 years!

This week we are going to be learning about simple, compound and complex sentences and how to use thee effectively in our writing. You will be writing a number of compound, complex and simple sentences so that you know how to use and identify them in your writing.

This week you are going to create a narrative, this is a made up story! This piece of narrative writing is going to be about your perfect holiday with your family. You will need to use as much detail as you can and it can be as crazy and as imaginative as you like.

Week 2 - Recount Writing

Last week on Friday we were lucky enough to have a Duffy assembly. This performance was about Duffy and his trip to space. This week we are going to create a recount about our experience at the Duffy assembly.  We want to try and make our recount exciting and interesting to our readers.

Week 1 - About me

Welcome to 2023!

I am so looking forward to having all of you in my class. I would love to know more about who you are and how best to help you with your learning this year.  We are going to start by creating an all about me piece of writing so that you can share information about you and your whānau along with some of your favourite things and hobbies you might have.
