IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION
The “Congregation of Allied Responders for Emergencies” (PSU-CARE) was born out of a vision to create a university-wide organization dedicated to emergency response and disaster preparedness. It all began on October 11, 2024, when the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) at Palawan State University (PSU) announced that a General Assembly would be held on October 14, 2024 which was conducted by the CNHS-DEAN and the PSU-CARE Adviser Prof. Hermanito B. Consad II. The purpose of the assembly was to elect officers, discuss the Constitution and By-Laws, and lay the groundwork for what would become an essential organization within the university.
On the day of the assembly, students from various programs gathered with a shared goal to establish an organization that would train and equip future allied responders. The election of officers took place, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s history. Al-Shuaib A. Son was elected as the very first President, with Melgie G. Aldea as Vice President, followed by other dedicated individuals who would help lead PSU-CARE. With the officers in place, the newly formed organization began shaping its identity and purpose.
Understanding the importance of visibility and engagement, President Al-Shuaib A. Son took the initiative to expand the leadership structure by forming the Media Committee, responsible for increasing awareness and encouraging more students to join. He appointed a team of talented individuals to handle copywriting, graphic design, and photography, ensuring that PSU-CARE would have a strong presence within the university.
To provide a clear direction, the President crafted the Mission and Vision of PSU-CARE. The mission was to cultivate a generation of competent and compassionate allied responders, prepared to handle emergencies with integrity and dedication. The vision set forth the goal of becoming a widely recognized organization at the forefront of emergency care, uniting responders who exemplify excellence, innovation, and humanity. These guiding principles would shape every decision and action the organization would take in the future.
Months of preparation and dedication led to PSU-CARE’s official oath-taking ceremony on February 5, 2025. This event marked the formal recognition of the organization under the CNHS and the Office of University Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (UDRRMO). PSU-CARE was officially granted its headquarters at the CNHS Building, PSU, Tiniguiban Heights, Puerto Princesa City, where future allied responders would be trained and prepared for real-world emergencies. To further establish its identity, PSU-CARE launched a design competition on January 26, 2025, inviting members to create designs for the official logo, lace, and organization shirt. After careful deliberation, the winners were announced on February 3, 2025. The winning designs became symbols of the organization’s mission, worn proudly by its members.
With strong leadership and growing support, PSU-CARE began fundraising efforts to equip its members with essential emergency response tools. Through solicitations and the generosity of sponsors, the organization successfully raised enough funds to purchase two large trauma medical bags and four small trauma medical bags. These life-saving resources were made possible through the kind contributions of Hja. Nursalyn Astami, Hji. Andikih Kalim, and Engr. Romeo Ong.
As the organization grew, so did its impact. With 150 members, including officers and advisers, PSU-CARE became more than just an emergency response group; it became a pillar of service and compassion within the university and the community. One of its first major initiatives was the distribution of relief goods to families affected by flooding due to the shearline, showcasing its commitment to helping those in need during times of crisis.
From its humble beginnings to becoming a recognized force in emergency care, PSU-CARE continues to uphold its mission of safeguarding lives, promoting resilience, and developing skilled responders. As it moves forward, the organization remains dedicated to training, serving, and making a difference, ensuring that every member is ready to respond whenever and wherever they are needed.
