These family of pages include everything that a team should know about the gameplay of the coming FTC Season 2022/2023 - PowerPlay. This page also consists of different documents, guides, and information required, attending, and explaining for/regarding the game. Under this family of pages, teams can also find and view their alliance partner for different matches, and also their match fixtures. List of awards to be awarded were also included under these family of pages.
Competition Duration & Section
Each competition matches last for 2 minutes 30 seconds, in which the first 30 seconds is fully on Autonomous mode. The remaining 2 minutes is the Driver-Controlled mode. In switching from Autonomous mode to Driver-Controlled mode, there will be 5 seconds given, and "3, 2, 1, Go!" which are exclusive in the 2 minutes Driver Mode. The last 30 seconds of Driver-Controlled mode is called the End-Game.
Autonomous Period
First 30 seconds period of the competition, where robots are to move autonomously without any human controlling mechanism or signal, as pre-programmed by teams previously
Driver Controlled Period
Remaining 2 minutes period of competition, where human interference on robot movement is ONLY allowed through gamepad controller by robot driver from the Drive Team
End Game Period
Last 30 seconds of the Driver Controlled Period, where human interference on robot movement is ONLY allowed through gamepad controller by robot driver from the Drive Team, and Human Player from the Drive Team can interfere the game with the introducing of alliance Beacon
Competition Scoring
Competition scoring for the game of PowerPlay is divided into 3 sections, alike the previous gameplay of FIRST Tech Challenge, which are:
Autonomous Period
Driver Controlled Period
End Game Period
Scoring Elements & Achievements
Autonomous Period - This is where robot move autonomously based on pre-programmed programs, as well as sensor and peripheral inputs for decision purposes
Driver Controlled Period - This is where robot movement is controlled by the robot driver(s) based on inputs made from the gamepad controller connected with Driver Hub via Bluetooth
End Game Period - This is where robot movement is controlled by the robot driver(s) based on inputs made from the gamepad controller connected with Driver Hub via Bluetooth
***Do note that Driver Controlled Period scoring still can take place in End Game Period
YouTube video attached to this section shows the FTC Match Timer which will be used during the competition. There are different tones, sounds, and instruction throughout the timer in indicating different time period throughout the match. Be familiarized with each of the sounds and instructions!
