Welcome to the GSD Mock Portfolio! This site serves as a guide for creating your own portfolio and has many resources to help you. Throughout this site, there are examples of ways to format your portfolio. Anything written on a red or blue background is instructions or advice.
Click here if you want to go to the sample home page with instructions on what you need for this page page. This page is essentially your introduction to the Home page, which includes a small section about yourself and about the program as a whole. Click on the button to get more information about your home page!
On the other hand, click here if you want to go to the sample portfolio competency with instructions on what you need for each portfolio page page. This page is essentially a model to the seven different competency pages. It contains sample reflections and a format for your reflections. Click on the button to get more information about your competency pages!

This page serves as an all-in-one spot for Google Sites tips and tricks to help you make come up with your portfolio design.
All videos on this page are recorded from a computer. If you are using your iPad to edit your portfolio, make sure you are in desktop mode (it'll look like what is in the video).
— ACCESSING YOUR —
Portfolio
Head to your class page on the GSD Website (this website right here)
Click on the link attached to your name.
Bookmark your personal portfolio as well as the GSD Website for easy access in the future. If on your iPad, add these to your home screen!
— SELECTING A —
Theme
On the right side of your screen, select the "Themes" tab.
You can select from one of the many default themes and change your color & font from that screen.
NOTE: You can create your own theme by clicking the "+" and choosing alternate colors and fonts. You may also import a theme that you find on the internet if that suits you. Try searching "Google slides templates" or something along those lines.
— CHANGING YOUR —
Banner
Note: this will have to be done for every page
Scroll up to the top of the screen and click "Change Image" in the bottom left corner.
Select a photo from the default gallery, Google Drive, Google Photos, URL, or Google search.
You can adjust the image placing by clicking the anchor in the bottom right corner.
Choose your header type in the bottom left corner.
Cite your image! This does not need to be a full MLA citation. A link will do just fine.
— CHOOSING A —
Page Format
Go to the "Insert" tab on the right side of the Google Sites Editor.
Scroll down to the "content blocks" section.
Choose one of the six options provided.
Edit the text, positions, and images to customize it!
— SHARING YOUR —
Files
You will need to do this for EVERY document you embed in your portfolio.
Open the document and click the blue share button in the top right corner.
Under the general access click "restricted"
Click "anyone with the link"
If this is done correctly, the lock icon will turn to a green globe.
This is an extremely important step in crafting portfolio as it will give viewers access to the documents you embed.
NOTE: If you don't own your document, you should make a copy and then do this.
— EMBEDDING A —
Document
You will need to do this AND the step above for every document.
Go to the "insert" tab on the right side
Click "Drive" at the top
Find the document within your Google Drive
The document will show up on your portfolio. Then, you can rearrange and resize.
— MAKING A —
Button
Copy the link you want to attach to your button
Click "insert" on the right side
Click "button"
Type in what you want your button to say. This is what will show up on your portfolio.
Paste in the link.
Rearrange and resize.
— MAKING AN —
Announcement
Copy the link you want to attach to your banner (optional).
Click the settings button on the top of your screen.
Click "Announcement Banner" on the left side
Type in what you want your banner to say & color
Type in what you want your button to say & the link it'll take you to.
Adjust settings about where it appears and if the link opens a new tab.
— CHANGING —
Navigation Style
Click the settings button on the top of your screen.
Click "Navigation" on the left side.
Choose style and color.
— CHANGING —
Brand Images
Click the settings button on the top of your screen.
Click "Brand Images" on the left side
Select your logo (this will appear on the top of your screen)
Select your favicon (this is the icon that will show up on the tab of your website)
Both of these are completely optional but are nice touches to your site.
— ADDING —
Social Media
Click the "Social Links" option on the insert page.
Insert your link (icons/images will pop up automatically for popular sites such as Instagram but feel free to use your own).
Click "Insert".
Adjust settings regarding size, color, and shape.
— PUBLISHING —
Your Site
Once you make edits, click the publish button in the top right corner.
In the preview, make sure all of your edits are formatted correctly.
You can click the arrow down to the right of the publish button to see the published site, view changes that will be published, and more.
You will need to repeat this process whenever you make edits to your site that you want everyone to see.
