Mastery Learning: Your learning journey is about making progress at your own pace. Instead of just looking at grades, we focus on how much you've grown and how you can show your skills over time. You’ll keep revisiting concepts and ideas, building on what you already know. Your progress is captured using this scale:
Emerging: You’re just starting to explore this skill or concept.
Developing: You’ve gained a solid understanding and are going deeper.
Established: You’ve established this skill and can use it confidently and accurately.
The Mastery Learning Record/Transcript (MLR) is a comprehensive and skills-based learning snapshot that documents a GSD student's growth, skills, and achievements. It serves as a supplement to the traditional transcript and provides a more detailed view of what a student has mastered in the GSD.
Purpose:
Focuses on a student’s proficiency in the 7 global competencies rather than grades.
Highlights a student’s development across multiple skills.
Not in place of students' official transcripts, but a supplementary transcript-like tool for showcasing student learning and growth.
The MLR uses the Progress Tracker to monitor and store evidence and proficiency growth.
Students send admin/teacher “hands” when a new piece of evidence is uploaded for approval.
Currently only the highest level of proficiency is auto-synced to the MLR form the Progress Tracker.
This will be shared in GSD Student Orientation!
