Holidays in Santorini...

by Maria Mantzouka

It was pouring with rain and a big thunderstorm had been forecast. We had been waiting for that day for ages but the weather was not on our side.

Rosie's birthday was this weekend and our group of friends had spent a whole month planning a surprise birthday trip. We decided that we were going to visit Santorini for five days, since it's Rosie's favourite island. We would fly there but due to this bad weather, our flight had been cancelled. So, here we are, waiting at the airport and getting more and more tired every minute.

We were trying to think what else we could possibly do, so that the whole weekend would not be eventually completely ruined. Our lack of sleep and food and the huge feeling of disappointment that had taken over us, was making it hard for us to think. So, while we were brainstorming different ideas, Mason's phone started ringing, making us all jump.

The second Mason answered the phone, his concerned mom started shouting at him for leaving the house on such a bad day. She announced that she was coming to pick us all up from the airport.

We were all so relieved that we would finally leave this cold airport! Twenty minutes later, Mason's mom arrived, making sure that the whole airport knew, since she beeped her car's loud horn more than five times. We started counting to see if we were all present so that we could leave, and then we realised that someone was missing. We couldn't figure out who, until we heard Zack saying: "Wait, where's Rosie?"

Turns out, we were so excited about Rosie's birthday that we forgot to inform the birthday girl about her surprise birthday trip. Stupid us!
