Owens Director Notes
Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a nice break with family and friends. Our Winter Concert on Dec. 14th was a blast! Thank you to all of you that could make it to support all of these young musicians. 2024 is going to be a busy exciting year for our Franklin Bands. With our travel plans to Canada and the Starlight Parade at the end of the year, it will also be very a rewarding 2nd half of the year if we take some time to plan and prepare accordingly. Below are a few things that our students and I have come up that will help us as we move into the 2nd half of this year. The hope is that these will help our bands and our musicians progress, improve, and develop to their fullest potential.
Encourage your musician to practice and play at home
Please take the time to encourage your musician to practice and play at home and outside of class. We do have Semester playing tests that need to be recorded. Having a consistent practice routine is a key component to musical growth and progress. In addition, students who have a music practice routine tend to be more productive and balanced in other areas of their life. Please reach out to me if you have any questions on how to get your musician a private instructor or tips on how to get them to practice at home more.
Weekly Schedule for Classes/Rehearsals Sent out on Fridays for the following week. This will include pieces we will be playing during our rehearsals and a rough outline of the ensemble plan for the week.

Fundraisers to help pay for your Trip to BC and support other travelers!
We haven't had many students take advantage of the coffee fundraiser with Proud Mary so far. We have had a couple families turn in orders, but I haven't been able to fulfill those orders because we need a much larger volume of sales to place our order with the company.
Please consider selling some coffee to help pay for travel. Our next order turn in date will be on Jan. 26th which will coincide with our 3rd trip payment for Canada!
Coffee Forms are available in the FHS Band Room
