Some mental health experts believe we are now on the brink in an unprecedented "second pandemic" of Mental Illness fueled by COVID-19, and here at Franklin our Mental Health support and therapy staff are seeing far higher stress/anxiety levels and more acute instances of suicide ideation than in past years. As staff we are all feeling the effects of pandemic fatigue and exhaustion, and we are experiencing our own loss, grief, stress, and trauma, while trying to support many of our students whose fundamental ability to learn and retain information is being daily compromised by overwhelming stress and ongoing trauma. Yet, as we continue to show up for each other and for our students, offering spaces and moments of safety and connection, there is reason for hope and there is always support available (MH providers @ FHS) .
Anytime you are in need of Mental Health support for your students, or yourself, please reach out to Jed McClean or any member of the School Counseling team, and we will provide immediate support and work towards connection to ongoing mental health for members of our community.
