McCauley, et. al. (2010) states "the development experiences and the ability to learn have direct impact on each other." The developmental process can possibly enhance a person's ability to learn.

Bower & Konweski (2017) determine having a curious mindset and leveraging social media in an iterative cycle below, adult learning theory:
Concrete experience. A new experience or situation is encountered, or a reinterpretation of existing experience.
Reflection on the experience. Of particular importance are any inconsistencies between experience and understanding.
Abstract understanding of the experience. Reflection gives rise to a new idea, or a modification of an existing abstract concept (the person has learned from their experience).
Applying your learning through active experimentation. The learner applies their idea(s) to the world around them to see what happens.

Adam Grant (2022) describes how to sell your pitch. Here are a few important factors when selling your pitch:
Start with the problem. Possible survey results. Why does this need to be in place.
Your pitch should be thoughtful, factual, and logical fact based. Too much joy could mean you might not be successful in your pitch. Have a prepared business plan. Prove you have done your homework.
Show you are collaborative by talking about your shortcomings. It shows you are receptive to feedback.
Nesbit (2012) touches on Self-Directed Leadership Development (SDLD):
Must be willing to engage and provide attention in self-direction or self-initiate as leadership
Self-motivation needed for learning activities and the development of self-awareness as primary focus of development
Reflective process (Challenged) - Sense-Making Analysis (Looking at what happened, why did it happen, why do I feel/act, impact on my goals or other?) - Evaluation Awareness (Implications to development)
Monitor emotional reactions to feedback, managing emotions, and self-reflection
