Listen to Hirsch (2019) speak about focusing on the underlying issues and ways to improve performance.
Being confronted by uncomfortable truths, but looking out towards future you can change. It provides for window gazing or seeing different things, only one view that matters. Feedforward is the whole other perspective in mirror holding. It is ideal to think about what is the goal of feedback.
The Joy of Getting Feedback (Hirsch, 2018)
Instead of looking back, see where you headed. Ask yourself what do you want to be or how can you improve going forward. Create new emotions, instead of fear look at joy. Push forward, see where you are headed and what you want to create.
Instead of using the "praise sandwich, consider the WRAP approach. With the sandwich you praise, give feedback, then praise again. The last thing the team member heard was praise. Will they learn from that conversation? The WRAP approach works on giving feedback and having a down-to-earth conversation that focuses on the WRAP:
W - What and where are the growth areas.
R - Reason, why does it matter.
A - Affect, what results from the media, why does it matter and what's the effect.
P - Prompt creativity or ideas to make positive and productive changes
