D2 - Fellow
Who can apply for Fellow (D2)?
Engaging with Fellowship
Descriptor 2 reflects main grade teaching responsibilities and is the expected descriptor for all staff who undertake substantive teaching as part of their role. This descriptor recognises and acknowledges good practice within the learning contexts of higher education, wherever this takes place, and however teaching and the support of learning is approached. Further, it recognises the diversity of staff who, in different ways, provide such teaching and support.Â
The roles that are relevant to this level of Fellowship are: early career academics, academic-related and/or support staff holding substantive teaching and learning responsibilities, experienced academics relatively new to UK Higher Education and staff with (sometimes significant) teaching-only responsibilities including, for example, within work-based settings.
Typical Profile of a Fellow (D2):
Early career academics
Academic-related and/or support staff with substantive teaching and learning responsibilities
Experienced but relatively new to HE
Two to five years experience
What should Fellows be able to demonstrate?
Fellowship Criteria (D2)
Fellows need to demonstrate engagement with all five Areas of Activity and a commitment to all areas of Core Knowledge and Professional Values. Fellows should provide a rationale for the activities they describe, and demonstrate reflection on their teaching practice and the students’ learning experience. As APEX also relates to the UoP context, you need to show how your practice contributes to the aim(s) of the UoP Education Strategy relevant to your role.
Professional CommitmentÂ
Commitment to professional development is a hallmark of what it means to be a professional in HE and is at the heart of this pathway to Descriptor 2.
To benefit fully from this Pathway we expect you to:Â
Participate in the initial orientation events and supporting micro-clinics
Prepare for these sessions through identification of, and reflection on, relevant scholarship related to the session theme
