D1 - Associate Fellowship

Who can claim for Associate Fellowship (D1)?

Engaging with Fellowship

Descriptor 1 - Associate Fellow - is relevant to those staff that do not engage in the full spectrum of activities that might define academic or academic related practice, but who have a specific role in teaching and supporting HE learning. Such individuals, whatever their role or status, are not able to evidence engagement and expertise in all Dimensions of the UKPSF. The Descriptor is designed to be flexible and reflect the variety of different combinations of activities that HE teaching and learning may include.

The APEX Associate Fellowship Pathway is for academic and support staff with limited teaching roles. Typically you may be a PhD student, a post-doctoral researcher or a PTHP lecturer with limited teaching responsibilities. You may be an educational technologist, a learning support tutor, a technician or member of the library staff.

Whatever your role, the key requirement is to provide evidence of effectiveness in relation to teaching or learning support.

Typical Profile of an Associate Fellow D1:

What should you be able to demonstrate?

Fellowship Criteria (D1)

Associate Fellows need to demonstrate engagement with two Areas of Activity that are relevant to your role, and as a minimum that you have knowledge and understanding of your subject (K1) and also appropriate methods for teaching, learning your subject taking into account the needs of the particular students/programme you are working on (K2).  As APEX also relates to the UoP context, you need to show how your practice also contributes to the aim(s) of the UoP Education Strategy relevant to your role.   Colleagues applying for Associate Fellow are also asked to demonstrate alignment to the Professional Values that you think are pertinent to your role and responsibilities.
