Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Career Technical Education (CTE) Department at Plainville High School provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.


CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies, and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context.

College Credit Opportunities



  • Tunxis Community College Pathway. Open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in the field.

    • Introduction to Accounting

    • Advanced Accounting Accounting

    • Financial Literacy CCP



  • Tunxis Community College Partnership Program. Open to juniors and seniors who have earned a 3.5 GPA. Eligible students can take up to 2 courses per semester. Classes are taken on Tunxis' campus or remotely.

    • Any CTE course that does not have a prerequisite.
