Kindergarteners made their own sun sign and an "East-West" necklace to help visualize how the sun moves across the sky every day.
They read Sun Up, Sun Down by Gail Gibbons and learned about how the sun travels and creates shadows during the day.
"What is it called when we can see light in the sky but not the sun yet?" Answer: sunrise
They moved on to review daytime and nighttime and then were given materials to use design thinking to make their own "sun protector" to protect a girl and dog from the harsh rays of the sun (in our case a lamp).
Students used Playdoh was used to make a baby blue bot and then used with the Blue Bot program on iPads to learn more about algorithms and coding.
Students will also get to try Osmo Coding Jam this month to learn more coding basics!
