an instrument for measuring the force or the speed of the wind
5th graders received a kit and instructions to make their own anemometer out of paper, paper clips, a straw, playdoh, and push pin.
They persevered through the steps to create their wind measuring device and then tested it with a fan.
They recorded their process, data, and an analysis during an experiment.
Continuing with the theme of air, students learned how their lungs work by watching a demonstration. They also read a book called Rosie's Brain by Linda Ryden.
The book taught them mindfulness practices and the importance of breathing to regulate emotions.
