Below you will find information to help you orient to the parameters of these virtual tools and their organization on this website.
The following information will help ground you in the scope of these virtual tools:
These materials are supplementary, not a replacement or revision. Facilitators will still need to access and use original TIME narratives and facilitator guides in addition to the virtual materials. With that said, there are some tweaks to the original activities because of the virtual setting.
The google suite of tools are used primarily for all files, including the following:
Drive
Sheets
Jamboard
Forms
Docs
If your participants are not familiar with these tools, they will need additional time to acclimate to this virtual environment.
Facilitators will need to utilize a video conferencing platform for synchronous collaboration such as zoom or google meet. This tool was created within the parameters of the original TIME toolkit with the intent that the facilitator will still be utilizing the original slide decks and providing whole group and small group collaboration time to engage in the activities.
Facilitators will need to supplement the original TIME norms with their own virtual norms. As virtual norms can vary from setting to setting, we are not providing examples.
These tools are organized through Google Drive. Facilitators are expected to be the only ones creating the Google Drive environment. Facilitators may need to make sure participants know that they are NOT to make their own copies of the files.
Each section has a guiding sheet which aligns to the slide deck and will walk the participants through all of the activities. These sheets are meant to be collaborative, one copy per whole group.
Many of the activities which involved conversations now utilize a silent conversation protocol. This will allow full participation from all participants, ensuring all voices are being heard. The protocol starts with the prompt and time for participants to think and write their thoughts on a collaborative document, usually the guiding sheet. They then read each other's writing and have a verbal conversation based on all participants thoughts.
Each section has its own webpage with the following components:
Section Info
Original TIME document
Google Folder containing virtual tools
Section's Guiding Document
Virtual Set up Instructions
Linked Resources which can all be found in the section's google folder.
