Project Description: With a partner from Mandarin 1A, we together worked to make a chocolate mold representing our culture. I worked with the mandarin 1A student Ary. He would give me a design to create in Fusion 360 in which I would cover in a mold. Our design required a height of 0.25 inches and 2.5 inches in diameter.
These were my first three sketches I made. I chose the third design to the right and my partner liked ti the most too. I jjust needed to maybe add some details to the bunny.
This was my first design in fusion 360. I wrote his name on the top. I created a sun underneath symbolising him being Persian, and I also made the bunny inside to represent his zodiac animal.
Once I finished 3d printing it, I changed the thickness how much the sun comes out and how large the bunny is.
This is my design with a more extruded sun and a change in the size of the bunny.
When I finished 3d printing, the eyes and mouth of the bunny looked a bit weird.
In my next design I enlarged the eyes and redid the mouth. This is my final design in fusion 360
After 3d printing, I showed the design to my parter Ary. He said to enlargen to mouth and the eyes as they looked a bit smaller once 3d printed.
This is my final design in fusion 360 for my chocolate project. I enlargened and spaced out the eyes and mouth better.
This is my final 3d printed design. Everything looked pretty good and the mouth and eyes looked better and more natural. Overall, I'm pretty happy on how it turned out.
This is how my mold looked like surrounding my design.
After letting it set, the mold turned out pretty well and didn't have cracks on the edges or the design other than one small part you can barely see. The sides were also pretty smooth. I could use the mold for my chocolate. I'm happy with my final design for project 2.
The chocolate set in and the design looked pretty well-done. The only thing that was a bit off with this design was the top bit of the ear not completely turning up and a few minor parts. Overall the chocolate turned out pretty well and it tasted delicious.
Reflections
Strength
My strength during this project was creating the fusion 360 design. I think I was pretty proficient in my time management even making 3 designs and my final model in fusion turned out pretty well
Opportunity
I think I could've maybe added more details to my design but overall I liked it as if it was with too many details it might not turn out well on the chocolate.
Understand
I learned how to make a mold for something. It was pretty cool mixing the two materials and putting the material on and letting it set to make a pliable yet hard mold.
Limitation
A limitation in the project was 3d printing as I wasted quite a bit of time trying to find the correct 3d printer. I also accidently printed things twice due to people taking the printer.
WISCR
-W I think I was well rounded throughout the project as I designed and created everything quickly in fusion 360. I communicated with my partner pretty well. This allowed us to chose and design a mold that both of us liked pretty quickly and have time to make edits.
-I I also think I was insightful in the project. I had a good understanding on project requirements quickly creating my first design and be among the first to print. I finished the 3d printing quickly and my project turned out pretty well and nice in the end. The design looked simple and good with the mold turing out pretty well.
