Description: In a group of 4 or 5, build the tallest structure that is sturdy and stays up for at least 1 minute. The structure is built solely on straws and 2ft of masking tape. It must stand alone, and the only thing that it touches is the floor.
Brainstorm: Our main plan was to build a base that could support 4 long straws to make it as tall as possible. We could also maybe connect like one last straw at the end to make it taller.
Procedure: We made a square out of straws as the base, and then tried to connect some straws into 4 long ones. Then we connected the to the base and tilted them toward each other like a pyramid. We also connected one more straw to the top to add some more height.
SOUL Reflections:
-Strength
I think our main strength was determination. Even though our design was not working the way it was supposed to we did our best the entire time.
-Opportunity
I feel like we could've done many other things and had many other opportunities. One reason our design was failing was because the base was too small and couldn't support the tall design well. And because of the straws having the bendy parts to drink it kept bending and tipping making our total height much worse. The teamwork also wasn't there as nobody was listening to me.
-Understand
Without teamwork, the design won't work well. That's the main takeaway for me i feel like. You should also think about what you're going to build before you do it. I feel like we didn't really think on what we were gonna do and just started building
-Limitation
As I said, i don't think we had a lot of teamwork as everyone was not taking any of my suggestions to improve the deisgn. I think teamwork was our main problem.
-WISCR
I feel like I was trying to suggest things to improve design but everyone else was just ignoring me and to busy trying to blindly try to improve and fix the design.
