Description: Design and create a pair of animal figurines utilizing recycled bottle corks. Students design on TinkerCAD and prototype using the 3D printers. The design process consists of brainstorming, researching, CADding, 3D printing, and repeating until students are happy with their final products.
Brainstorm: First, I searched up some cool Tinkercad animals and wanted to see if I could get inspiration on anything cool. I found a pig which made me think of the Minecraft youtuber Technoblade, so I started building a Minecraft pig with a crown. For my other design I just chose to do a creeper as I wanted a Minecraft themed designs. A creeper would also look pretty cool.
Procedure
1. Pick out the corks and measure their diameters
2. I then started designing.
This shows the design of
the pig on TinkerCad:
Prototype 1: I first printed the front part and it turned out pretty well, but you could see the circle on the chest of the pig so I needed to fix that and print the second part.
Prototype 2: After printing both things again, I fixed the chest and printed the second piece. Both pieces fit but because i didn't add enough supports the side of the head is incredibly rough.
Prototype 3: The third print went perfectly. Everything was printed well and after removing all the supports there were no rough spots anywhere. Both parts fit the corkscrew well.
After finishing the design of the pig, I started designing the creeper. I only printed the creeper once and it turned out perfectly besides the fact that the corkscrew was a little small. After that I just switched corks and found one that fits perfectly

Reflections
-Strength
My strength during this project was working quickly and efficiently. I printed and designed quickly and finished everything in the project on time.
-Opportunity
I feel like I could've designed a harder and more complex build if I used all my time wisely.
-Understand
I learned that I should use my time well while printing or waiting for printing. I could've used that time adding to my portfolio or designing a more complex build.
-Limitation
I feel like I was talking a lot with others while waiting for printing. I could've used that time for other more productive things like designing.
-WISCR
-W I think I was well rounded throughout the project as I designed and printed quickly and efficiently finishing the project on time
-I I also think I was insightful in the project. I had a good understanding of the project knowing how to design the corkpals well and understanding the requirements and due date.
