The Health & Wellness class helps teach students necessary approaches to manage a healthy lifestyle. Through tracking food intake and nutrition, students gain an understanding of what goes into their bodies. Through lessons about nutrition labels and ingredients, students are then able to make informed decisions about healthy eating. Combined with the Essential Skills for Life class, students are then able to plan, prepare, and cook healthy meals. In Health & Wellness, there is also a focus on mental health and stability, various kinds of positive mental health exercises, lessons about the importance of physical exercise and proper sleep habits, and lessons about managing stress. GAP students participate in an exercise program in which they can access a gym with a vareity of exercise equipment, personal training and a swimming pool. A healthy lifestyle involves both physical and mental well-being, as well as being an informed consumer, and this course lays the foundation for encouraging healthy and informed habits.Â
