Prior to the student's first day, we encourage all families that are newly enrolling in the Pewaukee School District/ACMS to contact our office secretaries and schedule a meeting with the school counselor. This will give the school counselor an opportunity to get to know you and your child, and for you to become more familiar with us. During this time we will:

• Review basic ACMS information

• Discuss your child and his/her strengths, areas of need, and personality

• Review the ACMS schedule and elective/exploratory offerings

• Take a tour of the school

• Discuss extra-curricular opportunities

• Answer any questions!

When talking to new students, we often hear that the most nerve-wracking part of the first day is entering the cafeteria and not knowing where to sit. Because of this, we will make every attempt to ensure that your child's first lunch experience is a positive one! During lunch on the first day of school, we ask that teachers introduce new students to another peer in the class that will take them into the cafeteria, explain the processes, and introduce him/her to their friends. This helps your child meet new people, and feel at ease entering the cafeteria.

** For students beginning mid-year: Following this first meeting/tour, we will determine the first day of school for your child . On that first day, the school counselor will meet your student in the office. We will assist them with setting up their locker and reviewing their schedule. We will walk through the school, identifying their specific classrooms. We will escort your child to their first hour class, and introduce them to their teacher.
