Asa Clark Middle School's schedule varies by each grade level. For 7th grade, students have three academic core classes, two elective classes, a 30 minute lunch, as well as Homeroom & Pirate Resource each day. The core classes are around 76 minutes in length, and include the following classes:
Language Arts
Math
Social Studies/Science (alternate by semesters)
In addition to the core classes, all students have Homeroom & Pirate Resource, which are identified by about 30 minute blocks of time in a student's schedule. The purpose of Homeroom & Pirate Resource is to engage students and staff in experiences that support each learner's academic, social, and emotional growth through positive relationship building.
The remainder of their classes are made up of elective offerings that are 50 minutes in length. Our elective classes operate on an A/B (alternating) day schedule, and include classes that are a semester or year long. This is identified in the course description guide and the listing below of 7th grade elective offerings. Students have room in their schedule for six semester long electives, and will have three each semester. Classes that are year long will take up two elective spots in a given year (one each semester). This does not include Fitness & Health, which is a year long course and will be included in a student's schedule.
All 7th grade students are required to take a world language. In addition to a world language, students are required to take Code to Create. However, students have the flexibility in which year (7th or 8th grade) they decide to take this class. For more information regarding the core and/or specific elective offerings at the 7th grade level, please visit the course description guide linked below.
