How to Use this Page
While a Tagalog interpreter may be required for situations such as evaluations and assessments, interpreters may not always be readily available during therapy sessions. The following words and phrases may be helpful with both pediatric and adult populations. It is highly recommended that the speech language pathologist listen to the audio files for better pronunciation accuracy
Introduction to Client
“Hello how are you, I am the speech pathologist. My name is _____. I do not speak Tagalog and the interpreter is unavailable."
/kƏmusta poʔ kajɔ? akɔ aɪ sɪ ____ aŋ ɪnjɔŋ speech pathologist. Hindɪʔ akɔ nagsasalitaʔ naŋ tagalɔg at wƏla kamɪŋ interpreter sa ŋajɔn./
I am here to check on your swallowing, language, and cognition.
Translation: "Nandito ako para tignan ang iyong paglunok, pakikipagusap, at pagiisip.
/nandɪtɔ akɔ paraʔ tɪŋnan ang ɪjoŋ paglunɔk, pakɪkɪpag-usap at pagɪsɪp/
I am going to ask you a few questions in Tagalog to see how you are doing.”
Translation: Meron akong mga ilang tanong para malaman kung kumusta ang iyong kalagayan.
/mɛrɔn akɔŋ maŋa ɪlaŋ tanɔŋ paraʔ malaman kung kumusta ang ɪjɔŋ kalagajan./
