Accessing Videos

There is an abundance of educational content available on various video hosting websites that teachers and students can use to explore topics they are covering. It is advisable that teachers watch videos in full before sharing them with students.

YouTube has a vast number of educational and informative videos that can be easily searched and shared with students via online platforms, email, etc.

WatchKnowLearn has indexed approximately 50,000 educational videos, placing them into a directory of over 5,000 categories.

TED-Ed is TED’s youth and education initiative. TED-Ed’s mission is to spark and celebrate the ideas of teachers and students around the world.

TeacherTube is a free community for sharing instructional videos and content for teachers and students.


Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. 


Vimeo is an ad-free video platform that hosts thousands of professionally produced videos.


SchoolTube is a video sharing platform that allows teachers and students to access instructional videos and content for lessons. 



Language and Literacy Videos

Storyline Online has a bank of storybooks read by Screen Actors Guild (SAG) actors. Each book includes supplemental material, aiming to strengthen comprehension and verbal and written skills.

The Literacy Shed is a hub of thematic visual literacy resources that may be used as content for lessons.


Storyberries contains videos of story books for teachers to use in lessons with pupils.


Read Out Loud Archives contains videos produced in conjunction with children’s authors and illustrators. Videos include read-aloud books, author interviews and literacy themed art tutorials.



Gaeilge

This padlet wall from Máire Nic an Rí contains recordings of Gaeilge Gearrscéalta.



Glór na nGael is a YouTube channel filled with stories, sport and craftwork for pupils.



Scéalta le Spraoi is a YouTube channel specifically created to support pupils and teachers in the teaching and learning of Gaeilge.

Scéal an Lae is a YouTube playlist of videos from Cúla4 of Irish language storybooks read by their authors, publishers and Irish actors.

Coláiste Lurgan is a Youtube Channel which provides popular songs in Irish to support the teaching and learning of Gaeilge.

PDST's Beyond the Classroom resources can be used by teachers to help engage parents in their child's physical literacy journey. Learning undertaken within physical education classes can be consolidated and enhanced outside of school through the use of these resources.

PE at Home is a collaboration between Dublin City University, the Professional Development Service for Teachers and the Irish Heart Foundation.  This series of videos can be used to support all strands of the primary PE curriculum at home. 

Physical Literacy Videos from the PDST PE team are available on Scoilnet.  These videos, which are in English and Irish can be used to develop physical literacy at school and are linked to the PDST "Move Well, Move Often" resource.

GoNoodle contains a range of movement and mindfulness videos for primary pupils.

Visual Arts Videos

I am an Artist contains videos to support all strands of the primary school Visual Arts Curriculum. A scoilnet resource.

The National Gallery of Ireland's YouTube Channel provides a range of videos exploring and explaining some of their most famous artworks.

SESE Videos

Crash Course Kids is a YouTube Channel with Science themed videos for students, covering a wide range of topics including habitats, engineering, and space amongst others.

National Geographic Kids has a dedicated webpage full of interactive, thematic primary resources.

Media Sources

RTE Home School Hub is the home of RTE's Home-School programme with engaging lessons complete with activity sheets.

Cúla 4 ar Scoil contains a range of resources and thematic lessons for pupils to engage with.
