has at least five years teaching experience (NOTE: any new teacher appearing in VISTA as a Year 1 or 2 teacher is not eligible to be a mentor)
demonstrates current evidenced-based instruction and assessment practices
possesses an anti-oppressive, anti-racist and growth mindset
is committed to continuous professional learning
is willing to set aside time to meet regularly with mentee
is an equity-minded educator who:
recognizes systemic barriers, racism, and the marginalization of individuals,
takes action in their practice to dismantle these barriers,
programs in response to the diverse and specific identities and needs of their students.
