As we approach Spring Break, this is an important checkpoint in the school year. While students are looking forward to a well-deserved break, the weeks leading up to it are critical for academic progress, attendance, and planning for what comes next.
Here are a few key areas for families to focus on:
Academic Progress & Grades
This is a great time to review your student’s current grades and missing assignments. The fifth six weeks moves quickly, and small gaps now can become bigger challenges later. Encourage your student to communicate with teachers, attend tutorials, and take advantage of opportunities to improve grades before the semester wraps up. Seniors especially should be mindful that graduation eligibility depends on successfully completing all required coursework.
Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance remains one of the strongest predictors of student success. As we head into the final stretch, every class period counts. Please help your student arrive on time and avoid unnecessary absences. If your child must miss school, be sure to submit proper documentation promptly. Testing & End-of-Year Assessments
Spring often brings state assessments, AP exams, SAT/ACT testing, and final exams. Help your student prepare by encouraging consistent study habits, adequate sleep, and balanced schedules. Juniors and seniors should also stay attentive to any testing deadlines tied to college admissions or scholarships.
Course Selection & Planning
Students have already selected courses for next year. This is an important opportunity to talk through long-term goals with your student. Have conversations at home about strengths, interests, and post-secondary plans. Thoughtful course selection now sets students up for success later.
Seniors: Graduation & Post-Secondary Steps
Senior families should continue monitoring graduation requirements, FAFSA completion (if applicable), scholarship deadlines, and college communications. Spring Break is a great time to finalize decisions and ensure all next steps are completed.
Digital Citizenship & Safety
As students enjoy more free time over break, please continue conversations about responsible decision-making, both in person and online. Social media posts, travel safety, and peer choices can have long-term impacts. A quick family check-in about expectations can go a long way.
Spring Break is a time to rest and recharge, but the weeks before and after are vital. Thank you for partnering with us to keep students focused, accountable, and prepared for a strong finish to the school year. We are proud of their hard work and appreciate your continued support.
We hope your family has a safe, restful, and refreshing Spring Break (March 9 -13) !
Make sure you pay attention to the Minute weekly. We will post additional graduation updates as they are received.
