Eligibility: students should understand that employers in the fitness industry expect their employees to be at least 18 years old to hold a position that assumes duty of care for participants. Therefore, this course must not be accessed by students in Years 9 and 10 (Stage 5) via early commencement.
Course Description
This course provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities. Qualification outcomes may include providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs. Work may be undertaken in locations such as gyms, fitness facilities, pools and community facilities.
Students must complete a minimum of 35 hours work placement in a Fitness industry workplace.

Cost: An annual fee of $150 is added to school fees for this course for consumables, as well as the first aid course. Please note, some schools adopt a global subject selection fee. Students will also need their sports uniform for practical lessons.
Post School Options
Students may undertake a career working in a gym environment as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, exercise programmer, conducting fitness assessments for a range of populations or groups.
