We are learning about how to organise my time, materials and brain to have quality study time.
I know that how I learn can affect the tools I need to manage my time well.
I understand there are different tools or techniques I can use to organise my time.
I can use one of the time management tools to help keep me on top of everything I need to do for school and home.
Time management is all about using your time effectively or productively. It is especially important when you need to balance a lot of things like, going to school, doing homework, completing important tasks, doing exercise and staying in touch with friends. Oh, and getting enough sleep!
Setting up a schedule and making it work to fit everything in takes commitment and perseverance. We can often make mistakes in our planning for activities and work in terms of weeks, days and hours AND there are always good reasons for putting things off. When you create a schedule for things, you can revisit it and adjust it if you need to.
There are lots of different tools or techniques you can use to manage your time. Sometimes the best techniques are related to your learning style...do you remember yours?
Start by organising all of your spaces. Consider what you should and need to have in order to study or learn in each of these places:
Backpack
Locker
Exercise books for school/ folder & paper
Computer/ electronic device
Desk
Desk Drawers
Consider your supplies and do you need different things for different places:
Pens
Highlighters
Pencils & erasers
Ruler
Glue
Scissors
Sticky Notes
Desk lamp
Attacking a Task: Task Sheet
A task sheet can be set up to be used week by week, and should be referred to daily to make sure you are keeping up. A task sheet can help you to plan for both short and longer term tasks.
If you use your school diary to make a note of homework, you can keep your task sheet on your desk and update it each day to stay on top of things.
Your diary has a great Term Planner you can use.
Think about this week and everything you have to do. Use each one of the techniques above and figure out which might work best for you.
