1st XV Boys: This was a huge historic year for our 1st XV program. With the largest Yr 13 class is many years, we were excited to see what the season would bring. Round 1 saw a tight match where the scores were locked at full time, and the win came down to a coin toss which resulted in Papakura walking away as the first winners of the Challenge Shield. With losses only to #1 Pukekohe by 3 points, we went into the playoffs as the #2 team in the competition. In the semifinal, we faced a prepared and gutsy Rosehill side in very tough weather conditions and the boys went down narrowly in the rain. In the Northern Regional Cup we had mixed results but noteable wins were against Auckland 1B runners-up Tangaroa College. The highlight of the 2024 season has to be the World Schools Festival in Abu Dhabi. A squad of 25 traveled 16 hours to the other side of the world and represented our community in both 15s and sevens. We faced off against some of the top Schools and Academies from South Africa, Britain and the UAE. It was an amazing, one in a lifetime experience both on and off the pitch. We are truly grateful for all the sponsors, family and community support. We wouldn't have made it without you.
This year, 3 boys were selected for Counties u16: Damian Frauendorf, Jeremiah Godinet and John Ratuvou. John was also invited to the Chiefs u16 talent camp. In the u18s space, Jaidyn Doland was selected for the NZ Maori u18 trials.
Girls 10s: Coach Lagi and Ila Aumua had many girls to choose from. With some tough season-ending injuries the girls fought hard for eachother and were led by some strong seniors, especially Yr 13 prop Fou Sefo. In a nail-biting semi-final, the girls lead the #1 ranked James Cook at James Cook when time had expired. The referee kept his own time and in the very last play of the game, James Cook forced a turnover and ran in a 40m try to get into the final. This year 2 girls made the Counties u16 team - Loryn Toleafoa and Yr 9 Lusia Peato. Standout prop Fou Sefo made the Counties u18 team, Counties Womens Farrah Palmer Cup team, and the u18 Barbarians Squad.
u15 Boys:
2 boys were selected for Counties Maori: Liam Bankier and Jamal Krone
u14 Boys: This year we had 9 students combine with St Ignatius in Drury to form an u14 team. Our boys added much-needed size and strength to this up and coming team. Our boys played well and were assets both on and off the field to to St Ignatius's developing squad.
1st XV Boys: This was our first time in four years having a 1st XV team and it wasn't easy stepping up, especially with only one year 13 student on the squad. Coach Chris came on board during the season and our boys were able to get one win over Wesley's 3rd XV. The highlight for our 1st XV was the naming of our captain, Dalys Esera into the

1st XV Boys: This was our first time in four years having a 1st XV team and it wasn't easy stepping up, especially with only one year 13 student on the squad. The highlight for our 1st XV was the naming of our captain, Dalys Esera into the u16 Counties team.
Girls 10s:
u15 Boys: After a long and tough season our boys faced off against Waiuku in the final at Massey Park. The match was close and the lead went back and forth between the two teams, with Waiuku coming up victors in the final 5 minutes. Credit to the boys for a great and memorable season.
1st XV Boys: In 2021 Papakura High School did not enter a team into the 1st XV competition, but a handful of senior boys joined with ACG Strathallan to play. We look forward to the 2022 season and being able to field a team of our own and continue the Papakura High Rugby tradition.
Girls 10s: 2021 was the first season for the Counties Development 10s competition, and as luck would have it, we put our hand up to host every Friday. Five schools participated in the competition and our girls grew every week. Three of our girls attended the u16 girls Counties development day - Henrietta Tuivai-Lopa, Te Manu Lee and Camryn Te Puia-Afoa.
u15 Boys: This season has been about developing our players on and off the field, and adding to the mana of our team, school, and community. Our boys have had some close games and have only lost to the top team, Wesley College. There have been a few stand-out players who were invited to the Counties u16 development day - Dalys Esera, Solomon Pita, Toni Tomu, Tama George, and Riley Semu. The Counties final was planned to take place Saturday 21st August but has been postponed indefinitely because of Level 4 Covid-19 restrictions.
