Participation in inter-school sports (where students represent our school in competitions against other schools) is a privilege we encourage all rangatahi to pursue. It helps foster an environment of learning, growth and pride within in themselves and pride in our school.
With this opportunity comes expectations. All students wanting to represent Papakura High School in sports must follow these standards and requirements or risk this privilege being taken away:
Be enrolled and attending as a student at Papakura High School*
Make the most of your education opportunities by attending classes, and have above a 85% attendance rate. If there are specific issues or exceptions, a discussion will be had between Kaiarahi, TIC/Coach and the Director of Sport.
Be in good standing with the school - if a student is stood down or suspended, they cannot play until their pastoral issues are fully resolved, reintegration has been completed and SLT give permission to play
Be an example of respect towards teachers, other students, property, their opponents and themselves in both word and action
Bullying is not be tolerated - physical, verbal or online
Uniform, equipment and facilities are to be respected, used correctly and looked after
If students are unable to maintain these standards, they may not be allowed participate.
We have high expectations, but even higher hopes for our students to achieve and grow through sports.
