Week beginning - Monday 16th March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a great week in Year 2 and the children have continued to work brilliantly!
Inquiry
This week we have continued our work on artists and discoveries recorded through the arts. The children have been creating their own art inspired by space exploration. We read the book 'Look Up!' to set the scene. The children used a range of different materials which we used last week including crayons, pens, pencils, oil pastels, charcoal, watercolours and paint, the children used the different techniques they practiced last week to create their own space-themed artwork. They have produced some beautiful work and we are amazed by the creativity and effort the children have shown.
Maths
In maths, we have started to wrap up our unit on multiplication and division. The children have started to notice patterns between the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and are keen to use TTRS on the Chromebooks to show off their multiplication skills. It would be great if you could continue to encourage this at home!
Maritime Museum Trip:
Thank you to everyone who registered their interest in attending the trip to the Maritime Museum next week. If we require your assistance on the trip we will let you know by the end of day on Monday at the latest.
Showcase:
We are so looking forward to welcoming you all into school on Thursday 26th March for our showcase. The children have been working hard to produce some fantastic pieces of work linked to our central idea. The children cannot wait to show you their work and talk about what we have been learning. It is going to be a real celebration and we cannot wait to see lots of you there!
Thank you all for your continued support.
