Week beginning - Monday 16th March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have had a very busy week in Year One during which we have been completely immersed in our inquiry for this module. We were very excited to meet Paul on Monday. Paul brought his guide dog Pasha into our school and taught us all about the inspiring and important work that Pasha and many other guide dogs do for people who are blind. The children asked wonderful questions and loved having the opportunity to gently pat Pasha goodbye at the end of the assembly. In phonics this week, we have been busy recapping on a range of sounds that we have learned throughout the year to date and creating sentences using a variety of tricky words, including come, my, and were. In maths this week we focused on finding the mass of different objects. We worked together to use balance scales correctly and thoroughly enjoyed discovering how many cubes each classroom object weighed. Our courageous creatures came to life this week when we made our animals out of clay. The children loved using a variety of tools and techniques to create their courageous creatures and are very much looking forward to painting them next week. After a very excited countdown, the day finally arrived for Year One to hop on the coach and head to Howletts. The children were very excited to see the different animals and engage with the Big Cat Talk. Well done, Year One! Another amazing week!
