Week beginning - Monday 15th September 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have had such a fun and productive week in Year One, and it is hard to believe it is only Week 3! Here is a snapshot of what the children have been learning. In Phonics this week, the children have been introduced to the digraphs ue and oi. They have been practising reading these sounds in both familiar and unfamiliar words, with a strong focus on honing their decoding and blending skills.
In our inquiry-based learning, pupils have been identifying the different parts of the human body and discussing ways to maintain their bodily health. To consolidate this knowledge, the children have created their own information booklets, which provided a fantastic opportunity to combine science with sentence construction. This has helped the children make meaningful links between our central idea and their developing literacy skills.
In maths, we have been working on the concept of one more within numbers up to 10. The children have enjoyed using practical resources and games to strengthen their understanding of number patterns and relationships.
In French, the children have been learning through song. This approach has not only supported their vocabulary acquisition but has also made their learning enjoyable and engaging.
It has been a busy and exciting week, and we are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm the children are showing in their learning.
