Week beginning - Monday 1st December 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
In Year 6 this week, we have been diving into a new science focus: classification of living things. We have looked at vertebrates vs invertebrates and how we can classify animals further from there, into groups such as mammals, fish, birds etc.
In maths, we have continued our focus on fractions considering how to find fractions of amounts, how to find the whole when given a fraction of the whole and how decimals and fractions link. This learning has led on well from our previous weeks looking at mixed numbers, improper fractions and adding / subtracting / multiplying / dividing fractions. The children continue to be enthusiastic around these areas of maths, proving that when something is a challenge, it is also extremely rewarding when you master it! As these concepts are quite complicated, children would benefit from support at home on this. If you're not sure how to help, ask your child to open up their maths on Google Classroom and try and teach you the concept using their slides from the week!
Inquiry has meant continuing to write letters home from the perspective of Windrush migrants who arrived in the late 1940s and 1950s, explaining how London (and England as a whole) has (or more often, has not) met their expectations.

This week, you used what you already knew to help you learn more about how animals are classified. You identified the observable features of different animals and even created a “Who am I?” card for an animal of your choice. Well done!
6S
This week, Otto has shown enthusiasm for and dedication to his learning. At every opportunity, he has worked his hardest and pushed himself to do more. This has not gone unnoticed by his teachers and we are very impressed. Keep it up, Otto!

This week, as every week, Freddie has worked hard in everything he has been asked to do. This positive attitude ensures that he makes continual improvements in his learning. Well done, Freddie!
