Week beginning - Monday 1st December 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have had a wonderful, fun-filled week in Year One, full of inquiry-based learning and festive Christmas practice. The children have shown great enthusiasm in all areas of their learning.
In Phonics, we have been revisiting previously taught sounds and focusing on applying these through our blending skills. This week, the children have been exploring nonsense words. Although these are not real words, they provide an excellent opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their understanding of the sounds they have learned and to identify any sounds that may need further consolidation.
In maths, we have continued our work on 2D and 3D shapes, searching for examples within real-life objects around the school. The children have enjoyed making these connections and using their shape knowledge in meaningful contexts.
To add to the excitement of the season, the children were delighted to create Christmas decorations for our school Christmas tree. Their creativity and enthusiasm helped make this a special activity for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
The Year One Team
