Week beginning - Monday 1st December 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
What a busy and exciting week we've had in Year 2!
This week, we truly became globe-trotters as we developed some of our geographical skills, focusing on developing essential geographical skills. The children mastered the names and locations of the seven continents and the five oceans, which was a huge achievement! The highlight was putting these skills into practice by accurately plotting the origins of several significant individuals we have been studying onto a world map. This exercise wasn't just about locating places; it helped the children develop a much deeper and more tangible understanding of how far-spread the impact of these pioneers truly was.
To complement our geographical studies, we've also been developing history skills by working on timelines. The children learned how timelines help us visualise and understand the order of historical events, and we practiced plotting a variety of significant events through history, reinforcing concepts like chronology and duration, and allowing them to see the vast span of time between different historical moments.
Meanwhile, the countdown is on for our spectacular Christmas performance! We are now less than two weeks away, and rehearsals are going well. The children are sounding wonderful and working incredibly hard to learn their lines and songs. A huge thank you to all the parents who have already provided the necessary costumes. If you have not yet sent in your child's costume, please could we ask that you bring it into school on Monday 8th December at the latest so we can run full dress rehearsals.
Finally, the stage was set for our thrilling auditions this week as we held the heats for Year 2's Got Talent! It was a brilliant, fun-filled morning showcasing the incredible and diverse talents within our class. Every single child who performed showed great courage and enthusiasm, and after all the performances, the class held a democratic vote for the act they enjoyed the most. We are so proud of all the children for their brilliant hard work, and a huge well done to everyone who took part!
