A.M. Chaffee:
Yoga is integrated into Social-Emotional Learning and Mindfulness class at A.M. Chaffee School. Children are introduced to breaths, yoga poses, and relaxation so they have the tools they need to manage stress and anxiety and other challenges or problems they may be facing. Yoga practice can help with mind-body awareness, self-regulation, and physical fitness. School based yoga programs also place more emphasis on individual abilities and offer a non-competitive environment and also provide an increase in physical fitness to enhance the overall well-being of students. Bi-monthly students will be able to experience yoga on their own personal mat. Each yoga session includes, breaths, poses, games, and relaxation.
Clara Barton Elementary: Students continue to learn breaths, yoga poses, and relaxation methods so they can have the tools they need to cope with stress and anxiety and other challenges they may be facing. Students will have the opportunity to do yoga poses in the mindfulness classroom and also include the opportunity to experience chair yoga. Students will also have exposure to breathing techniques, journaling, visualization, and coping strategies to help navigate the world they live in. They will learn how the poses benefit the body and mind.
