Description: The goal of the Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship Program (SPS) is to support Career and Technical Education students along an educational pathway leading to high-skill, high-demand, high-wage careers in their local community.
Potential scholarship recipients must be recent high school/home school or GED graduates 21 years old or younger at the time of application, and pursuing a career in an approved program of study, requiring a two-year degree or less.
The approved programs of study include:
Advanced Manufacturing Design Technology
Auto Body Technology
Automotive Technology
Construction Technology
Diesel Technology
Drafting & Design Technology
Electrical Technology
Energy Technology
Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
Heavy Equipment Operator Technician
Welding Technology
The Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship Program (SPS) provides recipients:
The potential to receive up to $12,000 an academic year (2 years maximum) for tuition, fees, room, and board.
Potential to apply for additional funds for books, tools, and fees
A Scott Pathway Director at the Hastings Campus to assist students programmatically, socially, and with career development.
Special enrichment opportunities to support learning and career development outside of the classroom including a summer bridge program.
Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship requirements include:
Live on campus in a dedicated living-learning environment
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Register for 12 or more credits per semester
Attend career development activities
Meet regularly with the Scott Pathway Director
Participate in a paid sponsorship, internship, apprenticeship, or employment in a program-related field
Meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States
Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated career interest and program alignment, proven resiliency and work ethic, and financial need as determined by the FAFSA. However, financial need is not required.

Apply by November 4, at 5 p.m. CST to be considered for the Spring term
Apply by March 1 to be considered for the following academic year
