Nursing Assistant (NA)
Central Community College offers the 76-hour training required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and employment as a nursing assistant. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the state competency examination, which consists of a written and skills test.
Nursing assistants -- also known as nurse aides, orderlies, patient care technicians, and home health aides -- assist patients with daily living tasks. They work in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, assisted living facilities, and private homes. Being a nursing assistant can also be a stepping stone to becoming an LPN, RN, or other health professional. Job prospects for nursing assistants are expected to be excellent due to the increasing long-term-care needs of an aging population.

Medication Aide (MA)
Central Community College offers the 40-hour training required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and employment as a medication aide. Upon successful completion of the training, students are eligible to take the state competency examination.
Medication aides, also known as med aides, assist competent individuals, caretakers, and licensed health care professionals, administer medications. They work in long-term care, assisted living, home care, and other health care facilities.
Competency recertification testing is also available at certain locations. Contact the training site nearest you for more information.
