MTSS
Multi-Tiered System of Support:
A Framework for Success
Ensuring Excellence for All Students Through Equity
The Ossining framework for a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) provides guiding protocols and processes for district colleagues and decision-making teams as we work collectively to build and sustain our culture of continuous improvement for the benefit of students by:
Using data from multiple sources to identify our students’ assets, opportunities for growth in areas where students are not currently proficient in grade level expectations, or opportunities for growth for students who demonstrate a need for advanced and accelerated learning.
Using research-based approaches and resources that provide equitable access to learning with the goal of removing all barriers for all students.
Ensuring all colleagues who educate our Ossining students are equipped to proactively provide equitable access to academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and building-level related service supports.
Using a value-added method that identifies supports in order to "add to" a student's typical learning experience to address needs identified through formative and summative assessment(s).
Creating pathways that positively impact outcomes for all students as they continue to work toward all goals identified in Ossining’s Portrait of a Learner.
Creating collaborative spaces for educators, families, and guardians to work together to support students.
