Personal Narrative

During the past three years of pursuing journalism at OHS, not only have I learned so much about the journalism field but also myself in the process. Starting my freshman year and not even knowing how to edit or even use a camera, I had to work my way up from the very bottom. In my first episode of The Season, I covered our boys basketball team and their games against DeSoto Central and Lafayette. As a 14 year old kid, I walked into those games without a clue of what I was doing. Since then, I've been able to push myself to learn new skills everyday and signifcantly improve my craft. Saying the process was difficult would be an huge understatement. Learning to effectively film and edit content is a very hard thing to do, especially with no previous experience. Although I began with a rough start, I'm so grateful that I'm able to continue to live out my passion in sports journalism. Whether it's sitting in the freezing rain at a football game, staying up all night to finish projects, or even something as simple as writing a voiceover script, I can't image myself anywhere else than where I am right now. With my final year at OHS approaching, I want to push myself even harder to be the best that I can be for my school and myself.
